Ok. So I got in just under the wire with the freebie on this one. I've opened it, and it's an alien landscape......Haven't really played with anything yet, since it scares me......

Can I really use this thing for multitracking? Guitars, vocals etc.......?????

Anybody out there got some healthy tips?

I got me a free version too, and it looked a little wierd, but I'm sure you can do recording , and definitely mixing as well. I opened one of the sample songs it came with and just started tweaking things to get a feel for it. I decided to stick with CEP, but it definitely seems capable. No real tricks for you though.

I don't think so. I got mine back in December. I'd be willing to transfer my license to you Tadpui since I don't think I'll be using it, if you want, and if it's possible. I know someone else offered in your other thread, but not sure what happened with it.

That'd be awesome, if its possible. Lemme read about the program a bit to see if it'd be worth the trouble. Would you put it above Kristal audio (my current freeware MT software)?

Does this help at all TallChap www.homerecordingconnecti...tory&id=362

More of a review, but it looks over the app a bit, and actually, it's quite easy to use once you get a small kick in the right direction...oh, and yes, it is a multitracking app.

Yep...but no disrespect meant toward Kristal, it is the bomb for the price

Cool.

BTW dB, I saw that Tracktion's web page links to your review of their sofware. I just finished reading it, and I like the prospect of this app.

Yeah, that link brings a lot of referrals to HRC, I'm glad they have it there :-)

I'm pretty sure there is a demo of Tracktion you can download to see if you want to use it. Tracktion to me seems similar to Acid only with a few more bells and whistles.

Mackie extended the offer to tape op readers til yesterday, but I know someone downloaded it today. Funnily enough though, no matter how i try on IE or netscape i've had no joy getting past the 'this promotion ended 31st dec' go figure, maybe it's a UK issue.

I downloaded the demo from Mackie's website. It appears that Tracktion is pretty much the same thing as Ableton Live, a scaled-down version of which came with my Delta 44. I think that Ableton's interface looks more polished and that it's generally more "mature" in its lifecycle. Unfortunately, neither is really suited to do what I want, which is multitrack. Both are very well adapted to improvisational loop-based live performance, but I don't really have any ambitions to do such a thing. Both can multitrack, but they seem to provide a pretty akward interface for multitracking, because their interfaces are geared towards organizing and arranging pre-recorded loops.

Thanks dB-wan. That link cleared up a lot of things. I think I'll need to play with it a bit, to get a feel for it's capabilities.
I guess it's familiarity that is the driving factor for any app. Still looks alien.....

Hi!

I am so pissed that I missed the promotion. Tracktion might not be in the top league, but it has a interesting fresh approach to the GUI design.

I would gladly have a license of Tracktion. If any of you don't mind to transfer it to me, please drop me a line.

Best regards,

Cucio
