Hi,
I have a big problem!...

I`ve was doing a session with Logic Audio 5.5 on my PC and it started crashing continuously...everytime i rebooted...it would just crash again. Anyway, on one start up of logic, a box appeared and it said something like "edirol pcr30" error..."...i cant remember what exactly...but then i had the options to disable, retry or skip. I clicked skip, and the notice came straight back up, i clicked skip again...this procedure went on 4 times. Then when i came back to logic again later on, it happened again!...this time I clicked "Disable". Now, my it won`t read anything I do with my midi controller (edirol pcr30)! I`ve spent over 2 hours trying to find a solution!....been through every menu looking for the oppurtunity to "enable" whatever I disabled...(I assume it was the driver?!)....anyway, no luck! Also, I plugged the edirol into a different usb port and reinstalled the drivers...still no luck!
Someone please help me!... :(
Thankyou so very, very much!
Take Care,
Alex

Sounds like a serious driver bug, contact Edirol immediately. They will likely need your Watson Log file as well to figure out why it crashed.

I realize that is of little help, but that is what I see. Unless anyone else has specific knowledge of the issue.

Were you using Logic and that control together for a while before this happened?

hi, thankyou for the help.
and yes, I`ve been using them together for a month now. :(
What do you think they would say if I rang them about it?
Oh, and excuse my ignorance...but what is a Watson Log File?!
Thanks again.

It's a log that Windows keep tracking event messages from the operating system itself.

Have you tried to re-enable the drivers directly in Logic? You would need to go to your options/midi and make sure that they are selected for use in Logic.
I have to agree with dB on that being odd that it was working fine then just bugged out.

Was there any changes you made to the system, USB config, or anything to do with Logic that may be casuing this?

Hi guys and thanks for all the help...it`s very much appreciated!...but I still havn`t rectified the problem...I`ve emailed Edirol Tech. Support...hopefully they`ll get back to me soon.
Here`s a little update on the problem!...

The error message was a small, rectangular grey box with a yellow exclamation mark sign. And it sign something about a driver error...then it gave me several options... try again (or something similar?), disable, skip, skip all (i think!)... and I clicked skip the first time it happened, but the second time, I hit "disable" when it showed up consecutivly...i thought it would be something I could simply re-enable at a later date!...but obviously not! ...surely there`s only a number of things it could possibly be?!
I`ve spent the past 2 days at the computer trying to fix it! I`m pretty sure it`s something in logic where I need to re-enable the PCR30 drivers or something?!...but I can`t find anywhere in Logic that mentions the PCR30 drivers! Do the drivers have some code-name or something?!
Thanks again!

ah, that type of error makes me think it couldn't find a file whilst loading the drivers...

okay...i`m thinking its something to do with windows xp now...do you think this is possible? Because it`s a very new cmidi controller and i`ve reinstalled everything a number of times. I can`t bring myself to back everything up though and format the drive to reinstall XP!...it`d so painful if I did all that and then it didn`t even fix the problem!
So, do you think it is possible that the problem is in Windows?
Thanks again!

Alex, indeed the drivers could be refered to by some other name. I have seen that many times. My old MOTU midi interface wasnt refered to mby its name, only a couple of letters and numbers, then the port numbers.

well!, just to let you know, I`ve fixed my problem...well, in most respects anyway!...
I bought a midi cable today and the PCR-30 is fine running through that!...still though, it`s very bizarre that the USB won`t work...I`ve tested the actual USB ports with my Digital Camera and they all seem to work fine!
Maybe somewhere in Logic there is a way to disable certain USB Ports?!...does this sound possible?!
But anyway, Thanks ever so much guys...I really, really appreciate the time and advice...must`ve been pretty annoying for you!...I`m not so sharp when it comes to drivers etc!
So, take care.
Alex :)
