Hey guys never really ventured into the world of synths but wudnt mind a bit of experimentation. I dont have a keyboard just electric guitar. Im using cubasis which runs all VST's perfectly. (Check my prof for info on other gear if needed?)

Any ideas?

lotsa free ones to look into in our directory www.homerecordingconnecti...8&cat_id=15 you are asking very generally about a very LARGE topic.

Personally, I like Cakewalk Project 5 and PowerFX's Dyad for softsynths...they are the ones I use most often.

Are Cakewalk Project 5 and PowerFX's Dyad compatible with Cubase?

i like Propellarheads Reason 3, it's in the same kinda catagory as Project 5, both are real powerful and extremely versital, definately not free though, but drawing notes with a mouse is no fun, find anything with a midi out and use it instead. better yet getcha that roland midi pickup for your guitar!

peace

Yes, Project5 is compatible with Cubase...it's a collection of VSTi's, Dyad I am not sure, it's a DXi, not sure if Cubase support DirectX plugs and instruments or not.

Well, no, softsynth such as DXi's and VSTi's all operate via MIDI data...not audio straight audio

I'm a big native instruments fan. They run solid as a rock AND they sound amazingly like the real, analog instruments they try to emulate.

xtc, yes I have. It is one deep and disturbing piece of software. I suggest trying the demo though before you drop the cake on this one. It is a piece of software that is not for everyone.

But that said, it is a sound designers dream. You can manipulate it in so many ways it is unbeleivable. But the learning curve on it is extreme. Be prepared for some very late nights, and some reading to go with it. The GUI is huge and one can get lost very easily in it.

Go have a listen to dome of the demo tunes and sounds. You will be amazed, but also distraught as recreating them is no easy task. It take a lot of tweaking to make that thing do what they did.

xtc, try the demo and see if you like it. I will admit they do have one heck of a good help set-up. It really helps get a guy through the rough parts of that app.
