Well considering this actually might be news worthy in certain circles I made a press release :)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

AARDVARK SUPPORT GROUP GOES LIVE - ASG.HOPTO.ORG

New Albany, Ohio December 22, 2004 - Noticing that Aardvark, the makers of the Direct Pro Q10, low jitter word clocks, and other professional audio devices seems to have disappeared, users have been emailing drivers between each other. Seeking to stop the insanity, The Aardvark Support Group was created by Sam Javor to host drivers and other Aardvark related material so other customers can support their own cards. Hosting the website on a home web-server accessible through asg.hopto.org The Aardvark Support Group hopes to allow users to not suffer from lack of access to necessary information and drivers to operate their equipment.

Beginning as early as NAMM 2004 Aardvark customers knew something was up, but what went down was the nightmare of every owner of non-GPL equipment... the Manufacturer disappeared. One by one the aardvark websites went off line and by December the customers seeking drivers felt left out in the cold.

The Digifreq.com message board found itself home to what turned into a driver emailing thread. Sam Javor, a Q10 owner, noticed the demise of Aardvark and the venerable driver sharing between aardvark users. Knowing that he was getting his home web-server going anyway for another project he decided to start a website to host the drivers so people would have some place to goto to get what they need when they need it. Lets be honest, the possibility of having to cancel a recording gig because you can not find drivers for your $999 sound card is not a pleasant thought.

Asg.hopto.org is a new site and still well in its infancy. A FAQ, a Knowledge Base, and additional product information will be added as it is found. Currently Setup713.exe is available and supports PC versions of the companies most popular cards. Users in possession of other drivers and legacy drivers are encouraged to contact Sam Javor so they can be made available to the public again.
The aardvark Support Group is not actively pursuing the GPL release of Aardvark Drivers however it strongly supports such endeavors.

For additional information, goto: asg.hopto.org

The Aardvark Support Group is a website administered by Sam Javor with the intention of making Aardvark support materials available to customers. Sam Javor has never been an employee or authorized representative of Aardvark. He is however the owner of a Q10.

Ya know, if you have PHP/MySQL on that server you build a cool little community for Aardvark folks if you don't want to put it on HRC, maybe find a little nitch on the web...

It does have MySQL though an older version... Slackware7 linux... I should update it sooner or later... I remember trying to get your message board script going last year to no avail :( But the computer is a 200mhz with 24 MBRAM :) I'll try again next week probably...

I have never given away my message board script yet that I recall...however, the next version of my CMS is coming along very rapidly including a more web-based installation, which should ALL be able to be done through a browser except for uploading the original package. It will have a message board, directory, news publishing and more...maybe consider using that in time, or, as I said, HRC could host an aardvark users forum as part of our site if a lot of people show interest in it...
