What effect would give me the sound of a, hmm, like a pilot fighter in the 50's talking into a radio, like that staticy sorta sound, if anyone has heard Rancid - Rats in the Hallway that is the sound I am trying to acheive, the intro is a distortion, "chasidhaihs" sound, Like a cop radio (zero 9'er 10 4 czczczbhzchk), I've tried distortion and delay but its not cutting it, Hopefully someone uses this effect , and hopefully someone is nice enough to take the time to explain this. Thanks, Happy Holidays

Bobtail software makes a plug called "Sound System Modeller" that is quite cool. It can mimac all sorts of sounds like that... www.bobtailsoftware.com

Massive compression, distortion, a little bit of a fuzz box (or generic noise), a bit of verb, and limit the eq to something less than telephone frequency (300 to 5000Hz is telephone, so start there and keep going, say 400 to 4000Hz next), and put them in the right order, and you've got it aced ;) Just think of how the actual radio is distorting the audio that way, and you'll get it.
