a funny story about that btw : at work we started a promotion whereby if you found any of our products cheaper elsewhere youd get 120% of the difference back.

the trouble came when a dude at one of the other branches was faced with a customer with a phone that was £10 cheaper elsewhere. said salesperson proceeded to refund ALL the customers money, plus 20% more on top, and let them keep the phone theyd bought...thus costing us one phone, and even paying the guy extra to buy it from us...

Mr. Behringer can go pretty low (with his prices). He's probably having his gear assembled by child prison labour in Pakistan. :) I mean :(

"Double the features half the price" My god, I think that does put his 32 channel 8 bus mixer at $50.00. I think that may be lower than a mixer from Play Schools audio division. :)

You can joke about child labor camps in Pakistan, but don't joke about Behringer! :-p

Besides, I didn't know Playschool even had an audio division...

.....As far as bitter and pessimistic. I guess I'm just not the same since Walt "lit the string on my Tampon" as he put it. Such tactful and polite language bordering on mysoginistic.

As I guy I have to chuckle to myself and store it for later use though.

This site has grown so much I don't get to read every post like I used to...I miss stuff now :-(

I've been on coarser audio boards dominated by men where I've never been treated that way.

And not to start a battle of the sexes but since were down that road sorta...reading the lines typed as is...is this site really 'dominated' by men or mostly populated of men???

Yeah, I guess it kinda does, well, to that I guess I just kinda gotta say "Come on Karyn, lighten up" I know Walt well enough to know it wasn't meant as a slam but as a sarcastic joke...

:: sigh ::

While on the other hand, you as well are a fun forum member with positive input into the forum, and I hate to see you offended by anything that happens here...

I am emotionally torn about an issue I was not even involved in...

Sigh....Unfortunatly as administrator your involved in everything that happens on your forum. Don't worry about it dB. It's probably just my time of the month and I'm just an emotional woman, or I detect that walt genuinly has the same feelings for me as he does his x-wife :):)

thats what the MF...stood for not the explative...
lol

Yeah I gott get in on that...I got that $50 G.C. for MF too....so the only question is 2030P or 2031P

2031, it has a better frequency range. 2030's start at 75 hz...thats kinda lame, 2031 start at 50. Better bass response

service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

2031's are also 50 more watts...like any control room should use 150 watts to maintain a comfortable listening level...hehehe

Both are manetically shielded as well, so thats good too.

Sorry RC...Its $159 for a pair but I just got a $50 gift cert. to Mus.Fri. for my b-day....

That is still a incredibly low price for powered monitors. I don't think you can go wrong. Happy listening.

RC I think they are passive, but I have a Hafler P3000 amp, so I think I'll be ok...

if in fact they are powered, well more power to us...

I know they have powered Truth, but I think they also make it in passive. That seems more likely at that price.

Even if they sucked, when he can afford better monitors he can get a speaker selector box and use them as seconds. I'm kinda of the belief, you can't have too many monitors to listen to mixes on. So even if he had a pair of Adams ribbon tweeter speakers, these would still be a useful tool, and you thought I was going to say Behringer sucked dB. Well, I won't do it, AND YA CAN'T MAKE ME !!! :):)

I disagree, but thats OK. If they suck, they suck...might as well use common HiFi speakers.

Since I got HarBal, I rarely do any rotating monitoring thru different systems...I don't need to. I have my ol' faithful JBL's for stereo and a small set for surround and that's it.

I am kinda with RC on this one...

What ever happened to 'everyone has their own techniques?"

I think my current monitors are too close to my head (less than 3ft)...the richness of the bass sucks but if I get up and move back its ok...

I got the one I got for a song because I needed to quit monitoring thru the PC speakers (Bost. Aouc.)
In either case I need to take a step up and whether or not I use a speaker selection box is TBD....

Then when it comes down to hooking up a phat set, I can sell mine somewhere...which might take out a decent chunk of that total.

Might I suggest a novel idea? Instead of you getting up and moving back, perhaps move the speakers back :-)

Three feet is too close for even good near-field monitors.

And just so we all get it straight about were Behringer is built. All their gear is built in Germany, but I do believe some of the boards are assembled in the orient, or with componants form said area. Uhli, as well as some other eastern block manufacturer's have perfected the assemly line to an art form. We use some componants at the comany I work for that are far superior to their competitors yet much lower priced. The reason being the assembly techniques used.

I read about the drastic price reductions and it was related to the growing market share they are getting. They are basically selling more, which means they are buying componants in larger quantity which means a better price on raw materials, which in turn means we the end user get it for less money. It is a win win situation for all. Behringer still makes money, we get the gear for less, and everybody is happy.

...or their grabbing market share so they can sell themselves... like what Univeral Music Group did by reducing CD prices...

I would bet they are sold in the next year ...probably to a company like JVC or Sony...probably Sony...

Or they are clearing stock for the hopes of a sale ... I don't know of any debt load or what new products are out... besides the B-control

Ya Zek, it's always up in the air for sure. I've had so many "no chair" moves in the last 20 years I hate to count them. For awhile it was confusing just who I was working for.

I just wanted to remind people that companies don't pass savings to customers :) So if prices are lowering it's due to positioning.

Thats odd, I know several companies, including the one I work for who do a very good job of passing savings on to the customer when it is at all possible. As for companies related to music gear, I know ART has been one who has passed those kinds of savings on when they could. I agree that most dont, but there are those who do.

These are most interesting terms. I could see where positioning vs passing it on could become a very titilizing symantic issue. Obviously refering to "soft" conotations of motive, greed, ethics, etc. as well as hard issues of solvency, proffit margin, long and short term development.

Behringer is surely one entity that has turned this industry on it's "ear" so to speak. I guess what I find most interesting are the emotional responses envoked by these changes. A lot of intsite to be gained.
