Hello,

So ive stepped into a semi-set up studio and need some direction. There is a 16 channel CFX16 Mackie mixer, used predominantly for live recording, a Delta 1010LT soundcard and cool edit pro on the computer. How can I use the mixer with the soundcard? Is there any way to get all the channels from the mixer to the soundcard and be able to edit the individual channels on cool edit? What function can the mixer serve at all?

Thanks for any help
dan

From what I see about your mixer you can easily get 4 individual tracks at one time by using the subout busses, running those sub outs into 4 of the inputs on your card and assigning mixer channels accordingly. You could also use the inserts to get any channel straight out from the board into your card.

What will that allow the mixer to do? Should I be able to check the levels in real time with the mixer and then add effects afterward with the software? How am assigning different channels to the sub out busses?

thanks

It will allow the mixer to have a few distict paths to your sound card, keeping each path separate.

Read your mixer manual, there are output buttons to assign the output(s) each channel should go to.
