Ok, just sitting around here alone for once, digging through all my old musical junk... Thinking about the occasional strange paths my compositions have taken since I started writing... Anybody have any odd tunes they've written that are not typical of what you'd call your style?
I'll post something myself, prolly tomorrow morning, I gotta dump 'em onto my HD from a tape, hahaha. I've got a couple of things that are pretty off the wall. There's this - well, it's kind of a pirate song. Yes, seriously...

Dec 10, 2004 11:06 pm Interesting thread... As I have mentioned in other threads, I'm too anal retentive and formulaic in my music. I need to take more chances and be a little more creative...
One song I wrote when I played with the Irish folk band that was definately different from my normal style was called, "Sober Up and Drink No More" It was one of those a capella, call-and-response sea chantey types of songs. It always sounded best after we'd had a few pints.
Now you got me thinkin'...might have to resurrect that one!
Great thread!

Dec 11, 2004 01:28 am I have or at least I think I still have the recording of one that wasn't typical of my writing. I was really just messing around one night when my youngest son who was about 3 at the time was sitting in the room with me and I just started doing this thing in G and He started laughing his head off, the more I played it the more He laughed. I have no idea what He thought was so funny. <G> I usually had the recorder running any time i was playing and that's how I came to have a recording of it. I went ahead and added some parts to it later and it's still kicking around here somewhere. :)
I'll see if I can find it.
