I've just been reading the article about building a home studio. The powered near-field monitors that are recommended appear to be discontinued. Can anyone recommend any others which are tried and tested?

Dec 08, 2004 10:42 am Cheers Flame, it's good to be 'ere. Except I haven't done a sod of work for the last 48 hrs since finding your site.....nevermind.
Dec 08, 2004 11:55 am As a newbie to computer recording, I too am in the market for a pair of monitors and need suggestions. I've heard that anything under $300 a pair isn't worth it. What sayeth you guys?
Dec 08, 2004 12:03 pm I say that is generally pretty accurate...unless you buy used.
Dec 08, 2004 12:14 pm actually i have been on the fence about monitors, being that it is x-mas and i have two kids but i need them desperately but i have read a lot of reviews and although they get mixed reviews for craftmanship most agree that they are a great sounding monitor .the "behringer truth B2031/B2031a " the second of which is this years model and the only difference being the cabinet finish the B2031's are on sale right now at service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear for $249.00 US. check em out i am hoping they'll last through the holiday but gotta get through that first.
Dec 08, 2004 12:18 pm wow sorry about that post i'm not sure why it sent twice
Dec 08, 2004 12:39 pm this seems to be a fair review ( i suppose) and the new model "B2031a's are only around $350 per pair ,and i believe they can be purchased through this sight . here the link to the review

Dec 08, 2004 12:41 pm however, we'd rather see people purchase thru links to MF on this site.
Dec 09, 2004 04:18 am Cheers for all your input guys. So it's the B2031/B2031a then? Any other contenders?
Dec 09, 2004 06:51 am i haven't seen to many other with those specifications in the $300 range but if you move uo to the $ 5- 800 range there are plenty of solid options in my opinion ,but don't take my word for it as i am monitor-less at the moment .going around and hearing some and seeing what you like for sound is probably the best option to at least get an idea of what specs. sound like .
