midi problem - audiophile 2496

Hi there,
I am new to home recording and recently have purchased a small setup consisting of a soundcraft compact 10 mixer, running from an m-audio audiophile 2496 sound card. I also have an evolution mk-149 midi keyboard linked up. All is connected properly, but I can't for some reason no midi signals are picked up in cubase sx. This is the only means I have of testing the midi connection. I think it may have something to do with the m-audio control panel as this baffles me. Have been to evolution site, and they tell me that there are no drivers that need to be installed for the keyboard. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks
