When recording real instruments and vocals, where should the average meter response be? I have been setting things up so they just miss clipping. Also, is there a volume level I should be shooting for? For example, should I be shooting to have the entire mix of instruments roughly the same volume when the sliders are at zero? Some tips and guidence here would be appreciated, as I have not really seen much on this basic side of things in the tips section. Perhaps I'm a bit blind or something.
