I need recording software that will record up to six tracks simultaneously in Win 98, with the least amount of CPU usage possible. Does software like this exist?
thank you

Nov 22, 2004 07:08 am www.multitrackstudio.com is one that is pretty cool.
You will find that many require at least Windows 98 second edition, but people are starting to develop toward 2000/xp only these days.

Check these reviews out under the "Studio Equipment" section of the website. Pay attention to Kristal Audio Engine which is a totally free audio software. I believe there is some more out there that are free. Other peeps here will know what they are.

well, i downloaded the trial version of multitrack studio. In the full version does it let you record tracks simultaneously? In the trial it will only let me record one track at a time.
Thanks again, your help is very much appreciated.

Nov 22, 2004 08:34 am Yes, it does, if you have a sound card that has as many inputs as tracks you want to record.

Nov 22, 2004 08:38 am MTS also has a forum your can ask it to verify good compatibility with that sound device before you purchase. MTS is a kick butt app.
Nov 22, 2004 11:13 am there's also the Pro tools free demo

Nov 22, 2004 11:15 am I think it's limited to 8 tracks total.

Nov 23, 2004 03:26 pm n-track will give you simultaneous tracking, but the demo won't let you mix down to a single file (that's the demo limitation). It's 16 bit, but all other functionality is there, i think.
Ntrack has been said to be pretty small, CPU and memory wise as well.
