Hello, welcome to HRC.

This is a very common issue, especially when working with sound cards not intended to be recording cards such as soundblasters. The problem is solvable, but it's mostly up to you. The signals join back together somewhere (if the track is muted, it's only muted coming out, it's still active before then somewhere.

At some point in the traveling of these signals the signals joins together, you need to, in your mind, follow the path the signals are taking thru ins and outs and find out where it is.

It would help if you more completely explained your current set up, any other gear involved such as mixers or anything of that nature. WHats plug in to where, what tracks are assign to which ins and outs, etc.

If it's a Soundblaster, go into your SB Mixer and change the Recording from "What You Hear" to "Line In" or "Mic" depending on what input you are using.

hi, thanks for that , my current set up is a 3200+ amd 512ddr 80mg hd, sound card is audigy platinum external. guitar microphone etc all plugged into the single 1/4inch jack on the extigy panel, one at a time ofcourse. ps nothing else involved aprt from the guitar first runs thru a zoom 707 fx box, where incidently the drum beat comes from. The drum beat was played on its own for the first track, guitar tracks an vocals added later. I suppose it wouldn't have mattered to a great degree, but by the 6th track the drum beat was getting out of sync with the first track !

yep, you were spot on, changed the what u hear to line2 in and it works perfect.Still don't understand why the settings for the audigy recorder should affect the Cubasis program, but hey, its all singing an dancin now, thanks again
