Sound card for quadraphonic recording?

Hello all,

I need a sound card capable of capturing 4 channels simultaneously, and with no offset beween those channels.
A secondary requirement is that it I can use it on a laptop. It also would be really helpful if it worked in Linux and XP.

Are there any cheap Firewire or Cardbus products that will do this? From what I've read it would appear USB is a no-go due to ludicrously high cpu utilisation, but I'd be happy to hear otherwise.

Thanks,

Thomas Hood

P.S. This is for a project that involves sound source localisation, via interaural phase difference, in case you were wondering...
