Korg Electribe S mkII

so i just bought the Korg Electribe S mkII (drum machine/rhythm production sampler) and after hooking it up to my midi keyboard i find that i can't control much. really all that i can control on my keyboard i could just control on the unit itself. my biggest gripe is that i can't use my midi keyboard to change the tone of each step on my loops. as a matter of fact, all tonal changes must be done by turning an analog knob with no digital display(for tonal/pitch changes).

does anybody know of any other units out there similar to this one that offers more control with a midi keyboard? this unit costs $400 by they way and i hope to stay around that price range. thanx.

i was thinkin of buying that...you put a nasty taste in my mouth....You cant see what the pitch is digitaly when you adjust the knob??? Now that can be a b*@tch!...I could work around not being able to change parameters from the midi keybord, but i have to see the pitch by cents. Thats hard to believe that when you turn the knob the display doesnt show what cent your on. I been out looking everywhere..your not gonna find anything around that price thats decent. You can find some soft synths or some discontinued gear that would be simular...Are you just lookin for sound module or sampler/synth?

yeh i've looked around everywhere too and this is pretty much what i'm looking for in terms of a production sampler and drum machine. really the only downfall the unit has with me is no digital display for pitch/speed changes and no refined way of assigning seperate tones per step.
