Hey whats up all, got two questions about this behringer mic preamp.

Have any of you ever used one of these? Is there a better "bag for the buck" pre amp out there at this price? Does it add alot of warmth and tone to the recordings?

Thanks in advance.

Indeed, gotta agree with flame on that one. I use their alot of their gear and love it. As do many other users here. I have tried it but dont own one, and indeed for the money I dont think you will find a better sounding pre.

mhm. What does the phase reverse do? Does it eliminate phasing went micing a guitar cab with 2 mics?

Got one, like it a lot. Now, having said that, I have no other to compare it to so...... And yes the phase reverse switch does just that; flips the signal 180deg. Now relitive to the guitar cab business, depends on what you are talking about. If you are talking about one mic front of cab and one mic back, it will probably help a lot. If you are talking about phasing per distance settings, maybe, maybe not. If the phase is 90deg out between the mics it will make no difference at all, just phase reverse one mic and leave the signal 90deg out in the other direction. The best simple application I can think of is micing a snare top and bottom. One channel phase reversed will make a big differnece in that case.

I guess I can put it in these terms. I have used it for vocals and accoustic guitar. The sound I got was much nicer than using the pre-amps provided with my board. I am happy with the unit.

I will be micing my amp with a 57 on the grille and a condenser about 3 feet back.

One additional question, What does the High Pass switch do?

Thanks for the quick replies.

Some frequencies will respond favorably to the switching of the phase reverse switch with a three foot span. Use your ear as the judge of the best switch setting.

The high pass switch is somewhat of a misnomen. It is actualy a low frequency cut filter. With the high pass switch on you use the frequency dial to set the frequency at which low frequencies are cut. Example: Set switch to on and dial to 300. Frequencies under 300hz will be cut. This is great for controling low frequency "rumble" in recordings. Most pre-amps have only a low cut or high pass switch with a set frequency.
