Hey guys,

I was using Cubase SX 1.0 and when I create a project (project being 16 track surround mixer) I add my vocals and my beat - Now audio 01 - the first track in the project, the sound is just fine, but audio 02 which = track 2 is the beat, the beat is lower in volume and come 15 seconds into the beat, it gets lower in volume than the first 15 seconds before it and the sound is muffled. But I experimented to see whats going on and only the first track being audio 01 in the project doesnt get the muffled sound treatment 15 seconds into the track. Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks.

Regards,
Deeps

Not a clue there Deeps. I'm also haveing a bit-0-difficulty intrepreting your post. Add in I have never toyed with surround templet and well it's pretty dawk out here.

Per your first reference to beat, I'm assuming you have turned on the metronome facility?

Second step you recorded vocals directly into SX track 1?

Third step you recorded a percussion track from your Korg into track 2?

Now are track 1 and track 2 out of time by 15 seconds?, Or does one of the tracks have no audio for the first 15 seconds? How does the muffled sound differ from the "lack of volume" sound? How are the mixer volume indicators relating to what you are hearing? Does SX indicate that the volumes are changing or is this an audiable effect only? What are you using to listen to the mix in terms of an amplifier / speakers?

Sorry bout playing 100 questions, but the above may help me help you. Conversely and better yet, maybe someone else has ran into you delima.

Walt,

Thanks for the reply - Sorry for the dodgy post lemme try again :)

I want to mix together a song right, and I have 2 tracks, one is vocals and the other is a beat. The beat and the vocals are in .wav format and already been transferred to my HD. So I import both wave files into Cubase. The very first track in Cubase is labeled audio 01 correct if you all remember and the audio 02 is where I imported my beat. Now my beat is extremely low and not at its original level of sound yet my vocals on track 01 is perfectly normal at its original level of sound. Bare in mind, I have not done anything at this point in Cubase, I simply just imported both .wave files. What I did to further test whats going on, I flipped both tracks meaning, track one is now my beat and track 2 is my vocals. To no surprise, the beat volume is fine and the vocals are low in volume sitting on track 02 aka audio 02 in Cubase.

I think something is wrong with my instal because why is Cubase effing with all of the remaining tracks but the first track in the project?

Thanks in advance...

Waahaaa! swahelie for eeee gads! Try the same scenerio in a standard two channel mix down template instead of suround sound. This is where I can't help much not having played with suround. If you have the same results in that template, yes I could only concieve of a re-load and visit to the cubase website for most current updates a viable answer. It's odd, but I was toying with another post here complaining about channels not being directed to a group channel. I noticed that in my research my second group channel had greatly diminished volume. I never was able to duplicate the mis direction of channels however. I didn't pursue the experiment any further. I have noticed that I can confuse Cubase by deleting and re-importing different channels in some situations. The resolve has been start from scratch with a new template, but from what you have described this is no answer. The other thing about the confusion was that it was not in terms of sonic output, it had to do with Cubase re-drawing the wave forms in the audio montage. So now we have two instances of unexplained sonic reduction with Cubase SX. Oh my.

Wish I could help further. I don't have the equipment to test the capabilities of the surround functions.

As far as importing in iteslf, I have never had a problem. I do most all my recording on an Alesis HD24 and import everything into cubase. Never a snafu on first generation importing.

Walt,

Thanks for your reply back. I dont use Cubase, but I'm going to use this as my sequencer/mixer of choice. I was told you can sequence your tracks with the surround mixer, but I will do the basic template and add however many "audio tracks" I'm going to need! Thanks for your input...
