So, if anyone is interested in some independent style hip hop, you can check out my group Vox Machina. Here's the sound click link:

www.soundclick.com/bands/2/voxmachinamusic.htm

I mixed everything, and feedback on mixes is definately appreciated. I kinda see these mixes as passable, but still with things to be fixed. Actually any feedback at all is seriously appreciated.

Oh, and we got a limited amount of albums duplicated. If anyone is interested in purchasing one, they are $3 plus S&H (about $1 in the US). There are two additional songs on the EP, that are not on the soundclick site.

voice machine- cool, yet old lead-(liek early 90's---- in then BAM!!! then the mid.... way out, way cool. the mix sounds just right, its got good bounce (5.1 surround im playing on) the deeps are clear, and the voices come through, as does all the extra's-
"people should come to cool-lo, to find out how it should sound, it's just not-humph- not the other way round" (thats my best rap lyric) also the first.. ahhahahha
great mix, and this isnt what my forte, but its good- i know that much!

LIstened to voice machine tonight, dude that one cuts. I love the intro and the rythm sounds you used there. The heavy sounds are great adn you guys really reach some speed with the vox in that one. I will def listen to the rest tommorrow night for sure after that teaser.

Sweet tracks coolo. I will hit you up via email for a CD for sure. And I got some other stuff to discuss as well.

I especially like the Gods track. Take this as a compliment, it hints a bit of Bone Thug. NOt sure if it is intentional or not. But it flows real sweet!!!

Bone thugs eh? I prolly would have never come to that conclusion, but sure, I'll take it as a compliment. Though the flow is very different to me, maybe it's the beat. If anything I would think Voice Machine instead of Gods would sound somewhat like bone, because of the rapid delivery.
I thought you'd be interested in the Mainframe track Noize, cuz it's all synth leads.

Thanks Hue, I'm on the third verse in that particular track. That's the only verse I've yet to do that really goes double time like that.

One of my groupmates came up with the beat on Voice Machine. While mixing I had to try thicken up the guitar sound because it was really thin sounding and really bad. I think it came out OK. Thanks for the rap Tony (and the feedback).

Anyone else want to take a gander?

Wow! This sounds great! (Granted, that's coming from a country guitar picker who knows nothing about the hip hop genre!) Your productions are very professional sounding. "Voice Machine" was my favorite, but they all sound great. You are going places!

coolo, ya it does as well. But it wanst till I got to Gods that it started to sink in a little. And it just hints of Bone Thugs. And ya, the voice machine track does have more of that flavor now that I listen again. But still I think Gods is what tripped me into that train of thought.

I will hafta listen to Mainframe again. I was in and outa the room while that one was playing and it slipped by without me catching much of it.

And jim, that is what I said a couple years ago when I got his first home produced CD in the mail. I freaked out at the stuff he was doing with nothing more then a SB and some cool sound fonts at that time.

Coolo, those tracks still get played here a lot.

Sweet, well it's still home produced! Just some better gear now, and thanks specifically to HRC and some trial and error, a lot better understanding of how to blend different independent sounds into a cohesive mix.

Jim, thank you for the listen. I'm glad you liked it. It seems that people who aren't normally into hip hop can usually at least appreciate the tracks we do as Vox Machina. If I had to list a favorite, I'd probably say that it would have to be Inspiration. Though I like rapping my verse in voice machine.

Noize, you have definitely been my staunchest supporter here, and as always I definitely appreciate it. By the way, I'm still using soundfonts quite a bit, but have added some other tools to my arsenal. On to the Christmas songs.
