Yeah I'm a loser I know. I am thinking about starting my venture into profesional gear in my studio. I want to purchase an HD system but can't get anybody to quote me by individual components. I want to buy an HD1 Core system and a 96 I/O module. I have a Tascam FW-1884 that I plan to use as a control surface and also for preamps by routing the Analog inputs to the ADAT out. Can anybody clue me in as to weather or not I will need to purchase anything else other than the HD gear to run it? Also, can anybody who has recently purchased either of these two peices of gear clue me into what they might cost? Thanks.

By the way, I have a P4 2.8GHz PC with 1GB RAM that should work with HD (please confirm if you know otherwise)

Well, an HD core card will start about 8k, HD2 at 10, and HD3 for about 12k... not cheap.

For compatibility issues, view digidesign.com's support page.

HD core has a list of 8K, but as everybody knows, the retail price can be significantly less. I was just wondering if anybody had bought any of this stuff. The problem I have seen is that the list price is the only thing you can get off the internet and vendors only quote systems as a whole. I want the ability to piece together a system from individual components over time. The first such components being an HD core and a 96 I/O. But i want to know how much each piece costs so I can see how much I would need for each piece I buy.

Thanks

Trust me... for HD you will pay very close to list. My bandmates bought an HD3 with a 192 digital interface from an authorized dealer and it was about 14k.

Yeah I finally got quoted for an HD1 with a pre and a 192 I/O and it was a shade under 15K. I might try and find some used gear on ebay. sometimes when studios go out of business, they sell there stuff.
