Ok. I'm sure one of you fine composers can help me out here. I have a Behringer MXB1002 and want to know how I can listen to what I've just recorded and play over the top of it. (Note- I have no powered monitor.) Better yet, how can I listen to what I just recorded and lay down another track on top?

Thanks for any help...in advance.

Hey Killroy, welcome to HRC.

Without powered monitors how are you listening to it now? Headphones? What you will need to do is run the mixer into your sound card ins and just make sure your sound card outs don't reenter the mixer at any point, running the sound card outs to some speakers, headphones or something...

How do you have it all hooked up now?

just a good guesser

word up killroy...

i have the behringer UB802.. i to run through my PC... i run a line from my PC sound card out (speaker/headphones) to my RCA tape in connectors on the mixer (i have a "Y" cable that slits from a 1/8" connector to RCA left/right). i then run a line from my mixer's main outs to my sound card's in (mic). and finally i run my control room outs on the mixer to my studio monitors (Event TR8-N's). with this arrangement i am able to record, let's say a drum track. then play the drum track and record over it. the only thing that gets recorded is the new track... hope that helps and that i didn't confuse you.

Yeah, I'm listening from the headphones. I just ran the mixer from the main outs right into the mic jack. For a monitor I was going to (I think) split the mic line from the computer and run a line into the amp for my stereo. Does something like that sound possible?
Thanks for your help....
By the way, until I can figure out recording of drums (I have an early 1950's gretsch kit in the living room) where can I get some drum loops?

Thanks everyone for your help!
