I'm new to recording and having some propblems with my digital recorder. it's a boss br-532 and i want to record rap with it. i want to know how to use the v tracks and how to copy and paste. for example when i say the hook instead of just sayin the hook over and over, how do i just copy the take i want and repeat it so it sounds professional. I also want to know how to make my vocals sound better. it has a built in compressor that you can edit the gains and all that stuff and also eq, de-esser, delay, ect. so i'm asking what levels should i record irecord vocals at to have it sit in the mix like the the pro's. anybody that has had experience with this machine, or just anybody who knows what i'm thaking about can u please help.

heres a link to see it. bossus.com/index.asp?pg=1&tmp=86

I'd have to give you a big ol' "read the manual" on that one...

Can't help you with the cut and paste option, but for compression, try starting from 3:1 ratio to 3.5:1 ratio and adjust your gain to however loud sounds good. With eq, try boostin arond 15Khz and/or cutting everything else for vocals. But with getting the mix to sound good, you are going to need to practice and do lots of tweaking, to get that pro sound. My suggestions are really just meant to be starting points. If you use delay, I suggest you only use a little, cuz a little goes a long way.
