(cheap) Portable digital recorder recommendation?

Hi all. I'm looking for a portable digital recorder that would be under $300. I don't need a multi-track at this point, just a line-in for a stereo mic. I'm thinking something like the 'archos' brand hard drive recorder, although I'm not sure I'm happy with that particular brand.
It just has to be portable and have the ability to easily upload the tracks onto the computer, so MD is out.
Thanks for any suggestions

Most new MD versions can send tracks up to a PC via. USB, and if you really do some digging you can find an MD drive for the PC.

Almost all MD's have digital/optical outputs which can plug into a sound card with similar inputs for zero data loss as well.

Thanks, just checked out the new Sony MD players with the new "bi-directional file transfer". [RANT]It just pisses me off that I bought a hobbled one a year ago, and now I've got to worry about unloading that one and then buying a new one that is probably the same thing with flashed firmware... bastards[/RANT]
Thanks for the heads up though... any more ideas, anyone? And how does the recording quality of a MiniDisc recorder differ from say an MP3 hard disk recorder?

MP3 SUCKS! Starting off with a lossey format will get you nowhere. MD is CD level without using any of their LP/MP3 compression formats, etc.

OK, thanks... also ignore above comment. I read about the new Hi-MD dealio (still bitter at Sony though).
