Just sorfed by the awards show tonight...just in time to see the "best new female artist" award.
:: choke, choke ::
Hillary friggin' Duff.
:: gag, gag ::
Has anyone actually heard her nasty friggin voice? OMG that is a horrible statement for the state of music if she is the best new artist...it's laughable. Well, she will be performing in a few minutes after hoobastank...that sounds kinda anti-climactic...

Sep 15, 2004 10:38 pm She is not even deserving of a good spanking no less an award for singing. I wish I had watched it but then again if I had I may have thrown stuff at the tV.

Sep 16, 2004 06:07 am She sings?! Wow, never knew that...I was too busy checking something else out when she's on stage I guess :)
Sep 16, 2004 06:23 am I dunno who you guys speak of but I know what yer saying...
There is so much crap in music these days I rarely listen to the charts or even keep up.
I periodically check oot REAL bands and artists and that is it. Theres so much plastic rubbish like Idol, Popstars, fame academy (UK) - it just irkes me.
Then ye get all the bams on tv actually PRAISING these idiots for being good singers...geez..half them cant even MIME properly!
Coco.

WOW! But yes, she can't sing a lick. Another artist that is produced and has no talent out there. It just really puts the really great bands who write/produce/perform their own songs out of the public's eyes. Main Stream=Greed=Hot girls who are just hot with no talent, that's it.

Sep 16, 2004 10:13 am This is why I don't watch too much T.V. This little parargraph speaks volumes!
There is also the glut of "recreational" technology to keep people inactive and thus ill-informed: computer games, videos and DVDs, 24-hour sports broadcasts, hundreds of television channels available through cable or satellite, and a media enamored with a "cult-of-celebrity" to distract the populace with superficialities (innocuously called "infotainment") while social injustices are ignored and freedom and democracy decimated. In fact some social critics recently noted the irony that more outrage had been generated over the methods used to select a champion in college football than the methods used to elect a president.
I don't want to make this into a political thread at all. I just think "why else would they do it"?

Sep 16, 2004 09:19 pm dont make me come over there flame!
But ya , good idea there. Just use bits of some crap vocalist and ya got some kool sounds to twist into little bits.
Sep 17, 2004 01:45 am Ya, the visual has become king. But so has the commercial recording studio.
Gregor, there is a british sitcom called 'absolute power' that takes a satirical slant on the 'cult of celebrity' by holding a 'pope idol' competition for the next Bishop of Canterbury. Stars Stephen Fry. Is it on tv there?
