I received my compressor and am pretty happy with it. It is the Behringer Composer Pro XL MDX-2600.

My hook ups= I have my condensor mic plugged into the mic jack of channel 1 on my mixer. The compressor is plugged into the "INS" of channel 1 as well and finally, the the output of the compressor is plugged into the AUX RTN of my mixer. But when I record, it seems the EQ for channel 1 doesnt function.

So my question is this. How do I hook this up where I can still use the EQ's. Do I need to output it to another channel (ex. channel 2 or 3). Or hook my mic up into the compressor and then into the mixer?

you are combining 2 loops which wont work.

you have 2 options:

1. get an insert cable ( 1 TRS --> 2 TS) which goes from INS to the comp IN and OUT. this just interupts your signal routing it to the comp and back into the channel line. (i think this is easiest and best for compressors)

2. use the aux send/return to compress multiple channels. This DOES NOT interupt the signal so it is essentially mixing the compressed signal with the original signal unless you cut out the orignal signal in the main output. To do this you send "aux send 1" to "comp in" and "comp out" to "aux return 1" (this is better for other effects like reverbs, etc)

hope this helps! good luck!

ahhh...I was using two 1/4 XLR cables. I'll have to go pick up an insert cable then.

xlr to 1/4" will work ... just not from the insert point on the mixer. it'll only work on the aux send/return route
