Okey, heres a dumb question... but... I've got a good deal on an old powered mixer. this thing is huge. Lots of nice features too, anyway, my question is for recording is it okey to use a powered mixer, or should I stick with my small non powered one?

what's the make and model? i'll help you look it up and dig up some info. and if powered means preamps, then buy it. You can never have too many toys.

yeah, and what's wrong with having two mixers? Now that I have one i'd love to have several. Just ask Noize, I hear this guy's got 10 of everything! hehe -j

well it's powered as in it has an amplifier in it. A pretty good one too, it can power 4 15"s. I'll tell you the make and model when I pick it up saturday.

this mixer doesn't seem to have phantom power though, so can I hook my my mixer with phantom power to my new one?

im sure you can get any line level out from your phantom powered mixer into any line level in on the big board like this:

Mic > SmallMixer > BigMixer > 15's

wow, monitoring with a fulls stack of 15s... hehe that mix outta sound thin when it's done :OD

Odd's are Loki that is has aux out's or sub out's, so that will work fine for recording. And it should make a good addition to your toy box. I'll give Jamie a hand on looking up the spec's when you post them.

hehe this is gonna be my live mixer. Theres no way I'm gonna monitor using 4 15"s. Yeah, I'm going to pick it up on saturday, it's an old used board, but I played with it and it is good for what I need in a live board. For recording I'm still going to stick to my small Phonics board until I upgrade to a behringer.
