I use all 8 ins of my EWS88MT for tracking drums, also I have one S/PDIF in, I would like use it for room mic, so I need something like mic preamp with A/D converter. Does anyone saw something like this or can suggest me other way? Thanks

Oct 03, 2004 12:53 am There is a decent unit made by Presonus called the DIGIMAX LT. It has 8 mic pres each with phantom power, a pad, and easy to operate front panel controls. The sound quality is ok for the price considering you're doubling your line in capabilities.

Are you sure that the S/PDIF is a discreate "9ht" channel? Sorry, couldn't find too much on it just the MF blurb which states "for interfacing to other studio equipment". Off hand I don't know any mixers, or pres that output in S/PDIF. Most are obviously analog, adat, etc. I know, you know that and that is why you are writing. Leave it to me to just restate the obvious!

Oct 04, 2004 01:53 am Walt and n.child, Thanks for advices, I tried to use s/pdif as 9th channel, it works. I also found cheap Behringer channel strip with aes/ebu dig. out (needs little passive circuit to make it as spdif) , also found some similar devices from dbx. But instead I bought small tube preamp from Behringer and small tube compressor from ART, and I use J-station as A/D converter. With switched off amp and cab simulation :)
