im looking at buying a set of these microphones...all iver heard is great stuff about them...are they suitable as overheads...or more as tom mics? i mean...i know it can be used for vocals...but i need to have a mic that has more than one practical application...cause im so dirt poor..thanks

Oct 29, 2002 08:45 pm It can be used as an overhead if you like. It is set-up with a 10dB pad to cut some of the heavy and explosive sound's. I have used it as an ambient room mic for guitar and other instument's. It also has a low frequancy cut switch to eliminate rumble, which can help it be used for drum's and such but I would use it there at a distance. It is one of the warmest mic's out there in that price range. And again, it is hand built like all the Oktava stuff. I would make sure and invest in the shock mount for them also, as they can be really sensitive around high vibration area's.
