Does anyone know the differences between the Behringer SL2442 and UB2442. As far as I can see they only differ by the number of inputs, 2 vs. 1 built in fx unit, and the graphic EQ on the SL. But, does the new SL sport any updated ciruitry? After a brief look I can't justify spending the extra $130 (based on msrp) for those types of features, since odds are I won't use the fx, or graphic eq on the SL. I'm mostly interest in using it in a home studio setting, not live. Based on experience are extra inputs worth over $100 to you?

if you're going to be plopping a bunch of mics on a band to record live then maybe. but for home use, stay minimalist and free your budget for other things that matter more.

Also, the cheaper UB2442 has direct outs on the mono channels. Don't know if you need 'em for what you're doing, but it's a good thing to have.

I noticed that after reading the manuals for all three mixers. I like the direct outs, since I can forsee recording more tracks than I have sub groups simultaneously. I could just direct out certain tracks instead of running them through a buss. I was actually little surprised to see that the SL mixers didn't have them.

Yeh, I was surprised too. When I first saw it in an ad, my immediate reaction was "I'm gonna sell my UB and get the SL". Then I read the features. It's too bad they overlooked DO's. I'm sure it's a great mixer, but that would've been a huge selling point IMHO.

I have a UB2442 and it does not have direct outs but it does have insurts on all mic pre's and that is what I use for recording.I'm thinking of getting the sl2442 because I need more channels.
