Confusing Lyrics, "What did he/she say?"

Ive grown up in a query about many classic rock songs that have made their way thru my ears thousands of times, with certain passages being completely un-intelligable, time and time again.
One that comes to mind is the Doors "LA Woman".... ahem,...

"I beat a bitty bug 'bout an hour ago"

What is he SAYING!!!!! LOL!!!!!

If thats what he said, thats just mean...like the bug had a chance.

Maybe some of you have some of these too.......

Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
Where the little girls in their hollywood bungalows
Are you a lucky little lady in the city of light
Or just another lost angel...city of night
City of night, city of night, city of night, woo, c’mon
L.a. woman, l.a. woman
L.a. woman sunday afternoon x3
Drive through your suburbs
Into your blues, into your blues, yeah
Into your blue-blue blues
Into your blues, ohh, yeah
I see your hair is burnin’
Hills are filled with fire
If they say I never loved you
You know they are a liar
Drivin’ down your freeways
Midnight alleys roam
Cops in cars, the topless bars
Never saw a woman...
So alone, so alone x2
Motel money murder madness
Let’s change the mood from glad to sadness
Mr. mojo risin’, mr. mojo risin’ x2
Got to keep on risin’
Mr. mojo risin’, mr. mojo risin’
Mojo risin’, gotta mojo risin’
Mr. mojo risin’, gotta keep on risin’
Risin’, risin’
Gone risin’, risin’
I’m gone risin’, risin’
I gotta risin’, risin’
Well, risin’, risin’
I gotta, wooo, yeah, risin’
Woah, ohh yeah
Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
Where the little girls in their hollywood bungalows
Are you a lucky little lady in the city of light
Or just another lost angel...city of night
City of night, city of night, city of night, woah, c’mon
L.a. woman, l.a. woman, l.a. woman, your my woman
Little l.a. woman, little l.a. woman
L.a. l.a. woman woman, l.a. woman c’mon

ok, Dan the man, what does Robert Plant say at 2:40 exactly in rock-n-roll. its a 1 syllable blurt!!! Ive always had singers just yell anything there......its like "yelabayayu" in a 1/6th note space. Its all by itself pretty much, not part of a sentence. I cant even say that blurt!!! hehe

Bingo Jed had a light on!

Excuse me, while I kiss this guy...

And I think that the mystery lyrics in Rock and Roll is actually Robert Plant reciting the capitals to all 50 states in a quarter of a second.

Or how about Elton John in "All the Young Girls Love Alice": One or two bleedle in da diddle that I just don't know...

One or two middle aged dykes in a go-go.

I've been singing that since before I knew what it meant.... Played that album (album?) out!!!

As for the Zepplin thing, it's likely "baby, baby"
Nearly everything else was!

And you snatch your rattling last breaths
with deep-sea-diver sounds....

It's the opening line (actually most of the verse) of "Burn" by Deep Purple that I can't get...

I wonder if there is lyrics on the album for the Purple song?

That would be cheating I guess, more fun to explore the options yourself..

Manfred mann.... "blinded by the Light"

I found out years ago it was "Wrecked up Like a Deuce", when we were kids we used to thing it said, "Wake up Like a deusch" (sp)?

For all the old dudes out there

yeeek, never been a boss fan, he has too many lyrics that are "%$tfgyhuj&jkIccDb-b-b-b" un intelligable himself. (send hatemail to Hue, he told me to say that)

Hey Forty, you like at the drive in?
I have a few students that like them, and Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria, Q and not U, forgot the other band. Thats real trippy almost cacophonic stuff, but creative and interesting. The problem is, trying to transcribe some of the material!!!!!

Its pretty "out there". What was the other split band from the drive in??

measure up to Nirvana........hmmmmm..... Bleach was good, all else sukt bad. You are interesting. you have a dedicated interest in music theory, yet NOTHING you listen to has any theory knowledge....... hmmmmm..... if I was back in college, you would be my freako case study!!!!! LOL!!!!!

bleach is my favorite nirvana album, yes. but nevermind and in utero have thier plusses. i was introduced to nirvana by way of nevermind, and, you know, the melodies were just haunting in a good way and, polished or not, there were amazing energies in kurt's vocals (as always). it was exactly what i needed to be hearing at that age. plus nevermind was just a pop song goldmine. mostly all major key, all great. as for in utero, i just love the recording style, although that album holds too many bad memories for me to really enjoy. the songs themselves are just angry in a bad way. i actually thought nirvana was basically a very happy band for the first half of thier career. the spirit of thier music seemed dark on the surface but lyrically a lot of it was really like a celebration. thats part of why i like them. has nothing to do with theory.

im trying to think what i listen to where there's a payoff in analyzing it by theory. i'd say definitely radiohead. alice in chains violates so many theory rules that i'll include them too. and tori amos seems to stick to the diatonic path so completely that i'm amazed her songs sound as great as they do.

Don't be talkin smack on my boy, Kurt Cobain. I love Nirvana, every album they made. he was a visionary...and kinda disturbed, but I whatever, I love Nirvana.

ok, but the solo in " about a girl" on that abysmal unplugged performance , I use all the time in reference for people wanting to learn how to solo. Its the "Dont let this happen to you" part of the lesson. When you are half falling out of your chair, strung out, during a huge public performance, and manage to make an old Martin sound bad, that shouldnt be anybodys hero, IMHO!!

And as many times before, Im off the beaten path, sorry. Im done. <hides and quivers>

i dont think he sounds strung out on that performance, nor any of the others IMO...thats one of the best live albums of all time to my ears, and a brilliant display of thie kinda thing kurt woulda moved onto had he stayed alive. its not the most amazing solo in the world ever on about a girl, but its alright...i love the way its kinda sloppy then it pulls back together in time for the verse again...perfect!

thanks for mentioningthat anyways, got me listening to the album now! awesome!

But that was the whole point, to just go. Hey we can do this just like anyone else.

Aside from that it was what was in to do at the time, and I am sure MTV payed him huge for the gig as well. That was one of the bigger audiances I remember seeing for an unplugged. The only other one that big was Meatloaf.
