I need to do a recording about 800' from any electricity, and was wondering if there was any special considerations that might be involved in using 8x100' extension chords ? It's not going to be crowded at all, so I wont have to worry about people tripping it apart, or anything like that . Just trying to make sure this is even possible before I make a big mess with lotsa cable .

Look up the specifications of resistance per wire size. Every size of wire has a documented resistance per unit of length. The general formula to use is Current = Voltage divided by resistance. Sum the current that your equipment will draw per documentation. Calculate the resistance of the cord at 1600 x the resistance per foot. Use the formula and find the resulting voltage. If the result dips below 100V (US) or 200V (Euro) you might consider a larger conductor size for the extension cord.

Morning Flame ! :) It was a really cool gig... I would've been recording a priest of the Luccumi religion, performing a ceremony known as "Osain", (pronounced: O'sign).
It consists of several priests singing, washing and blessing herbs, that will be used to "birth" another priest . I considered it very cool, 'cause it would have been something for the anthropologists to listen to, on down the road . Very different, and challenging type of recording to be involved in .(water everywhere) Unfortunately, it is this same respectful, but detached viewpoint that lost the gig for me, but there are more to come, and I do believe that this wont be my last opportunity . Weird, eh ?
