Hi,

I'm new to all of this recording stuff but i'm trying to get started in it. anyway, i have a delta 66 soundcard and am trying to use sonar 3. whenever i open the program it says that i dont have any midi outputs. then when i click on the select midi devices the only option under outputs is 'microsoft MIDI mapper' which it wont let me use anyway. i believe i have the delta installed correctly and can play music through it on my computer. what am i doing wrong? thanks for any help.

The Delta does not have a MIDI port. You need a MIDI port (sometimes cleverly masked as a joystick port) to use in that field. If Sonar does not show you one, then I presume you don't have one. many people with Delta series cards, or any other semi-pro, or pro level card do is get a Sound Blaster or something like that and use it just for the MIDI port and maybe typical system sounds.

DB is spot on for the output port. When you are trying to do your outputs - does it not offer the Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth??

IF so, select this. This was standard in my built in sound card so I use this for MIDI as I have a Delta 44 for my main card.

This should be there somewhere - have a wee peek. I had bother with this when I started til Noize pointed me in this direction I believe.

Gid luck and welcome...
