anyway, good choice man!
Jun 22, 2004 04:49 pm as far as out-of-context chords go, i guess i'm partial to sus4 and sus2 chords.
i was gonna say major and minor +5 chords, but they don't sound like anything in particular to me unless theyre part of a progression.
nice thread, by the way. can we extend it to include progressions?

Jun 22, 2004 05:12 pm C#m7, or maybe DM7. Am6 is good too. Or, almost anything I can't play on a guitar without some Michael Hedges (RIP) tuning.

Jun 22, 2004 07:35 pm D, with a dropped low E-string .
Jun 22, 2004 09:06 pm if you like a c#m7 chord, do you like ALL m7 chords? i find that the tonality of a chord doesnt matter to me since all types are essentially the same. yet certain composers have expressed a fondness for c sharp minor. they say it's more forlorn somehow. that's so odd but somehow true.
anyway, one of my favorite progressions is minor to minor augmented. another one i'm TOTALLY hooked on, and try to use all the time, is to use a guitar chord as a pedal chord...just keep playing it, and on the bass guitar, move the bass note move up from the root to the major third. it sounds dreamlike and so very sad. beck uses that a lot. 'nobody's fault but my own' makes excellent use of that.
