This kinda got overshadowed by the Reagan funeral (R.I.P. to him too) but Ray Charles passed away. A legend in music. He will be missed.

Jun 14, 2004 09:51 am I didn't really know his work outside of his cameo in "The Blues Brothers"... but I know he was an influence for a lot of others. May he see their smiling faces when they hear his music.

If there's a rock and roll heaven, ya know they got a hell of a band!

Jun 14, 2004 08:41 pm If you want to sit down with just one Ray Charles CD and come out a believer on the other side, try "The Best Of The Atlantic Years". Oh, just "Lonely Avenue" is enough to make a grown man cry.
"My covers,they feel like lead
and my pillow, it feels like stone
I toss and turn every night
I'm not used to being alone"
Any man who can overcome a physical disability, a tough upbringing and a heroin addiction is a mighty man indeed.
RIP Ray, you'll be missed.
