Speaker/Monitor setup idea

Hey guys,

I actually just thought of a cool idea today for my monitor/speaker setup, and I thought I'd pass it on to you guys.

My playback soundcard for the machine I do the mixing on is a Creative SB Live 128. It has "front" and "rear" speaker jacks for output, but when you set it up for stereo output (as opposed to surround sound output), the rear speaker is just a duplicate of the front speaker.

Right now I have my monitors (M-Audio BX5s) thru the front speakers, of course, and headphones hooked up thru the rear speakers.

I just ordered a headphone amp with 4 outputs yesterday, for when my band wants to do some all-at-once demo recording. But that would happen at the most once or twice a month. The rest of the time I wouldn't really be using that headphone amp. So, I thought I could hook that up to the rear speaker jack of my soundcard, and hook up headphones as well as 3 different sets of cheaper computer speakers that I have laying around the studio. That way I could mix with my BX5s, but by sliding up a volume slider, I could check my mix on 4 completely different types of speakers when I was done.

Thoughts on this? Sounds to me like it would be useful.
