i recently agreed to do some friends a favor by doing some mixing for them. everything they have is on adat. what's the best way to transfer the tracks from adat to pc, given that the inputs i have are what came with my SBlive and Live DriveII (optical, rca, 1/4, spdif). i also have a digital in on the back of my pc (that cam with livedriveII i think) that resembles a midi port but with more female holes. any help would be awesome! thanks

If it is an ADAT HD24 then all you need is a 10baseT nic and an FPT file transfer program. Max FPT is real good and free on the net. If it is an old tape machine you might be able to record all eight channels at once via light pipe if your cards light pipe is ADAT format. If not you can always play it out of the ADAT to analog and record it into your computer. I am not familiar with your cards so I can not say too much. There are also some format converters out there that convert spdif and conventional light pipe to adat format. There is always the ADAT edit package with a prepriatory card for ADAT light pipe.

Good Luck!
