Hey all,
Been writing music for a while, but only recording on my own for almost three months now. Here's the first "polished" (in my opinion atleast) track to leave my new studio. Let me know what you guys think of the job on this one. Its just an instrumental with some live instruments and some samples.

Thanks :)

May 26, 2004 10:26 pm Cool ! It's got a real pensive, 'getting ready to do something', feel to it ... are those 'spoons' that I hear ?
May 26, 2004 11:04 pm That was fun... What equipment are you using?

May 27, 2004 06:02 am Thanks for checking out the track to both of you. Nope, unfortunately not spoons on the tracks. I used some shakers and hand drums though. :) Yeah, it has a good progressive wake up and get going type feel to it I thought also. lol
As for the equipment used on this track:
-Pro Tools Mbox w/Focusrite mic preamps LE 6.1
-Compaq Presario 2500 laptop
-2 SM57's
-MXL 990 Cardioid Condenser
-BW6 Backwoods 6-String Banjo
-various hand drums and shakers
-Casio WK3000 for the keys in the background
-Samples from the "Make some music and win some prizes contest" on the HRC. :)
The part I was amused with is that I finally figured out how to write automation in PT so that I could pan the keys back and forth between the left and right speakers during the track. lol
Thanks again for checking out the track guys. Anyone else have any opinions also please?
Thanks

May 27, 2004 08:27 am Hey riffgod - I thought that was a really interesting piece. The feel of it, well... it reminded me of folk music, and the melody made me think of Aaron Copeland somewhat. I like the synth banjo, or whatever the lead melody instrument is. You know, I saw your handle, and I was expecting something with growls, screams, and zooming guitars :) I did find myself listening expectantly for the lead instrument to expand on the melody, maybe over a nice chord progression or something, to kind of drive the feel of the song home, but it was not to be. However, I think the overall style you've achieved here is pretty remarkable.

Tincanbug: lol yeah, I used to be really into the heavy tunes back in the day before I grew out of it and expanded my tastes a bit more. Now days I'm into just about any style of music except for most hard rap and death metal. :)
Flametheband: yep, all the samples are in there. heheh I used the buzz one and played it straight up so it would be recognizable and then had it fade into a reversed one of it so it pans across the speakers a bit when you give it a listen for texture. :)
