Anyone know what program I can use to look at the frequencies of my tracks. Would be cool to visualise my tracks since I have no monitors at the moment. I want to try my hand at notching, but feel more blind than the blindest of mice!
BTW - I just signed up for HRC pro (20 euro wisely spent) and will post something soon. If it is bad you will obviously blame it on my lack of studio monitors I assume...

May 17, 2004 11:33 am Welcome to HRC Pro, I just activated your account.
There are many spectrum analyzers out there, they will show you the frequencies used in each track, but as far as visual EQing goes, you all know what I am about to say.

May 17, 2004 11:49 am Har-Bal. OK - I am gonna get it asap. But I thought it was mainly for mastering?!
HRC Pro is amazing. A whole new world to explore! I will never get any work done now.
To those of you who have been lurking around and have not made the big step yet I can only say one thing: go for it. It's the real thing...
May 17, 2004 11:52 am Glad you like it so far mauz...yes, Har-Bal is primarily for mastering, or that is it's intent, but it does come in very useful for EQing individual tracks as well. EQing is EQing regardless of when/where it's done.
Tell 'em HRC sent you ;-) Paavo and Earle from Har-Bal are great guys, really support and listen to their customers, (excpet me cuz I annoy them ;-) and make a stellar product.

May 17, 2004 12:26 pm There's a frequency analyser built-in to Cool Edit, also. I'm not sure if it's an option on both multi-track and wav-edit mode, but I'm pretty sure that it's there on 1 of the 2. Look under the 'Analyse' menu option somewhere...
I still haven't really figured out how to use it. It looks like it's showing the frequency response at a given point in the track, and it will also show you in realtime if you press 'play' while viewing it. I just don't really know what to make of the display, and what to do with the info it's giving me.
