I am a new user to home recording. I am trying to mix a guitar signal and a tape signal together for practice with headphones. I am using the tape ins & outs and running the guitar signal from the headphone out on my amp into the unbalanced input on channel 1 on the mixer. When I do this, I can barely here the guitar with volume all the way up.(The Music is LOUD though). If I take out the amp and run the guitar straight to the mixer, I get music through the headphones, and guitar through the monitors(with or without effects). I also have no music in the monitors with headphones unplugged.I was wondering if someone could help.

Apr 27, 2004 11:19 pm im assuming the music you are sending into the mixer is coming in via the Tape In, well....how do you have the signals set-up coming into the headphone channel? (which of the black tabs around it are depressed) do you just have the "Tape" tab depressed? or do you have the "Main" tab depressed as well? there are so many ways to remedy this situation, fill me in with more specifics, but also....try turning down the music source possibly to mix well with the guitar signal, and then turn up the overall mix into the headphones...also dont forget to use the "Gain" control, some people, such as myself....for longest time didnt even know the importance of this control....-so back to helping you - reply with a more specific description of what your doing here...

Apr 27, 2004 11:36 pm There's always those way-cool, RCA to 1/4" L-R mono cables that Hosa makes... you could run the cassette (RCA outs ?) into one of those sterio inputs on your UB, and that way you could eq the tape mix ...
LOVE that cable config ! :-)

Quick observation. I have never been thrilled with Beheringer tape ins an outs. I'm not familiar with the unit but if you have the option you might want to try standard channels or aux returns for the tape. Much better routing and electronics at least on my MX9000.

May 10, 2004 10:24 pm Yes, dont use the tpae ins for parcticing with. This is a signal meant to run all on its own. The rest of the board is in defeat mode when the tape in switch is on. That is why you cant hear the guitar signal. Plug the tape or Cd into 2 of your regular input channels and all will be good.
