somebody re-wired your your signal path, this is almost always caused by one thing; your playback signal is meeting your new signal somewhere in your chain and both egtting dumped onto the track. This is often done at the mixer.

Does your plack audio ever double back into the mixer? before getting sent to the amp/speakers? If so, check the routing on the mixer.

unfortunatly thats not the problem its weird like when it records it also gets amplified in the next channel but i looked and nothing runs back into the soud board.

what sound card and app are you using, it might be in the routing of the sound card drivers or in the app as well.

i believe theres not much scope for changing the routing on a soundcard, other than how everything physically plugs in - this right db? dont take that for gospel...

stupid question here, but whats plugged into each of the sockets o the card itself?

Well, flame, it depends on the card you are using, mine is the Audiohphile 2496 and I can ship any in to any out I want, the control panel is very cool. You said in another thread you ahve a standard(ish) sound card, if it is a typical PC card, SoundBlaster, Turtle Beach, Philips, etc, well, they don't provide you with enarly the options of a higher end sound card like M-Audio or EchoAudio give.

That said, I still assume the routing prob is in Sonar somewhere, but, not being ahuge Sonar user, I will leave that alone until Noize2u sees this thread, he is the resident Cakewalk guru 'round these here parts.

And ponch, I asked before but you never answered...what sound card are you using, and to ask flame's question, how is the sound traveling around? What is your signal path going into and outof the sound card for any in and out available?

The routing problem is in the soundblaster or simaler card he may be using. You need to go into the window's sontrol panel for the sound card and select the recording option's tab, then disable recrding line in and wave out. This is a comen probelm as the card's all ship with the whole thing turned on a sdefault setting's.

Any more question's just post back here.

Hi, guys. I'm new here, but I can tell you that if all your tracks are being recorded into your new track, especially with a Soundblaster card, you almost certainly have the 'What You Hear' box selected as your recording source. Just get into your recording options in your windows mixer, and make sure you select 'Line In', or 'Mic'. The 'What You Hear' option is a real good way to convert your MIDI tracks to wav, but it causes problems if you forget to uncheck it when you want to record a new track. Hope this helps.
