more reason drums

I make metal music and I make drum tracks in Reason, but I'm not quite satisfied with the sounds available. Does anyone know of a collection of nice metal drum samples? I have checked out Drumkit from Hell, which sounds great, but it's VST-plugin... Is it worth the bother to use ReWire and run Drumkit from Hell through Cubase?

Hmm, I know reason can use soundfonts using one of the NX samplers, and there are some pretty cool drum soundfonts at this site www.hammersound.net

For rock sounds, you may want to try the Ken Ardency ones and I think there is one called Gold Drums or something like that. It might be worth checking out.

The only thing is, you will have to do your drum tracks in the NX sampler and won't be able to do it using the Redrum drum machine.

Other than that, there are lots of sample sites out there you can get good drum samples from, but someone else can probably point you in a better direction than I can. Maybe check the link section?

Take coolo's suggestion and look around at some of the samples out there. in our links section under samples and loops there are tons of links to good stuff.

Drumkit from Hell is a great sample kit and yes worth every penny if you are a metal drummer. I have sampled kicks fro the likes of Ramstien and others and it is a lot of work to get a good kick sound that will jump start a cardiac patient. But in the end it is also a matter of you get what you pay for. If you are not capable of creating your own smaples then Drumkit from Hell is a well spent investment.

get a decent loop and wav cd. the re:drum can play wav files, so get any hits and they can go in there. also, if you have recycle, you can cut up your wavs and load the rex files into redrum too i think. usually i just use wavs.

another thing to play with is putting a scream unit from the drums, and using some of the fx to add a bit of bite to the sounds. reason drums sound alot fatter and meatier through a compress master setting with a bit of play.
