Asio Drivers

I found out that i am not using asio drivers, i am using WDM/KS instead. I tried to switch to asio drivers in cakewalk 2004xl, but it doesn't seem to work.

my question: what are the advantages of using asio drivers versus any other driver.

the WDM/KS seems to work just fine for me, but if ASIO is better, i want to be using it, right?

WDM works OK, ASIO is just a bit higher-performance by having a lower latency, in some cases MUCH lower latency...I believe Sonar is the only cakewalk product to support ASIO, but I might be wrong there...

Home Studio 2004XL will support ASIO drivers as well. And the 828 should perform much better with the ASIO drivers as it will bring the latency down considerably. Although as dB stated WDM drivers are more then acceptable. Cakewalk has designed their products to work extremely well with WDM as they worked with MS to make certain that the WDM standard would perform very well. Your install disk should have come with ASIO drivers on it, or they may be installed allready and you just need to choose them in the preferances dialog in HS2004.

when i installed the drivers, i didn't choose asio as an option. i uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and all is good.

it seems that there is no latency at all. thanks for the help guys.

Sweet, I love it when a plan comes together.
