I am preping to set up a recording studio and have some ?'s about a few selct pieces of gear . we are going to use an alesis Adat-HD24XR Digital 24 Track Hard Disk Recorder to get the information , will it be able to sync playback to a high quality cd burner at , say 16X ? or will it be a real time output? if not is there an alesis adat model that does ? or another brand with alesis quality ?
the cd burner we were looking at ion a sony cdrw-33 , this only burns 2x which is insufficient because of time restraints .

I beleive Walt has an HD-24, maybe he can answer the question for ya. I am not sure but I would think it is in real time or 2x max. I never burn audio faster then 2x for quality purposes.

Oops! Sorry bout that. And I looked at the header a few times too. Just looked over my head. Probably is. But of course I will try.

Ok first off I am a little confused with what you are attempting. I have the HD24 with no appendicies. I use the network connection to upload the recorded [wav] files to my PC using an FTP file transfer program. I then import the [wav] files into Cubase SX for mixdown and mastering. Last step I use Nero to burn a CD. My CD burner is 24X.

The downside of the operation is that the network port on the HD24 is 10mb only. That is the time consumer in the process. Alesis offers a unit that will allow you to pull out the hard drive from the Alesis and plug it directly into your PC. I forget what bus it uses e.g. firewire, USB, direct connect to PCI.

Anyway, I will watch this thread for a bit. Maybe you can fill me in on your process and I can possibly be of more assistance.
