I currently have a two soundcard setup, one for input, one for output. I want to get rid of the one for output if possible, it's a cheap soundblaster clone. What are the Windows settings I should assign to the 2496 card in order to be able to record through it while monitoring the mix without recording the mix as well as the instrument I'm trying to record?

You need a mixer that has a secondary sub out to run to the input of the card www.homerecordingconnecti...tory&id=132

Dang... I thought there was a way I could just run my input into the sound card and listen to mix + input while recording only the input without relying on another piece of hardware. I don't think my mx602a does that...

Unless you can set up to moniter directly off the cards outputs. That is how some peeps have gotten around the situation.
