making the best fruityloop drum fills

Thanks to all your guidance, I'm now using fruityloops as a VST within cubase (and loving the results I must say)

How do you guys do your drums fills? Cos I love big sounding, long & complex drum fills
(music i'm making is electronic btw)

Do you just play around with the patterns until you find something that sounds cool? (the most obvious method i guess)

Or are there any templates/guides/programs that can help out or automate this process?

i think alot of it's in the velocity controls. adding little ghost notes and rimshots to your snares. layering hats and shakers and junk. knowing when to use an open hat or a closed hat. depending on what style of music you're doing your fills might have congas or rim shots or anything really. it helps to listen to artists you like and try to recreate what they're doing. what style are you doing anyways? breaks, dnb, trance, house, industrial, etc?

i've had mixed results. i'm not the world's best drum programmer...very new to drums in general in fact. but i usually just go and write a new section and go heavy on the toms. i've also had luck with writing one section with a different kick and snare pattern than the verse and then adding a tom pattern over top of it. and i've had luck once with keeping the verse drums going as written and slapping some toms in there with it.

a site with some downloadable midi fills would be handy, if anyone knows of one...
