Outboard effects

Okey, I got a question. What I wanna do is run the signle out of the computer after it's been recorded, into the reack, out of the rack, and then into channels on my mixer and record the effected sound as a new track. I was thinking I would do it like this but thought i'd ask if anyone has any better ways to do it...

Phonics outs into Delta ins,
Delta out 1 and 2 into yamaha mixer in one and two,
Delta out 3 into left in of sampler,
Delta out 4 into left input of reverb,
Sampler out into Channel 5 of Phonics
Reverb out to Channel 6 of Phonics

That way I can assign anything I don't want to be affected to be played through delta 1 and 2 directly to the montioring console, and if I want to put some reverb on a track send that track to go out delta 4, and it would send it back into a new track to be recording, meaning I'd have one clean track and one effected track...

Will this work? Is there an easier way to do this?

okay, so you're doing this *after* it's already in the computer. why do you need the phonics mixer?

okey, The phonics mixer is the one connected to the INS of my delta, the outs of the delta going to the yamaha... so, if I want something to go into the delta it'll have to hit the phonics first... so what I wanna do is record a sound, then send the sound out of the computer, into the effect, out of the effect, and then back into the computer

the sampler is my old peavey, it samples like 3 seconds of input and allows you to tweak it's sound a bit

Does the outboard reverb produce stereo results, or would it work better if given a stereo set of inputs and allowed to work in stereo?

I don't know, everything seems logical to me, the way you are suggesting.

When you get the cash, I would suggest investing in a patch bay to accomadate all the ins and outs. Then it is a simple matter of moving plugs around and you will have an unlimited number of ways to set things up with out being tied to one thing and having to unplugg and replug into and out of the sound card and mixer all the time.

Coolo-
yeah the reverb accepts a left and right input and sends the stereo sound out two channels, so a left and right out, that way you can use it mono or stereo.

Noize- Yeah I am thinking that would be the way to go here, I've hesitated buying one because I didn't think I had enough gear to justify buying one but looks like it would make life easier.

So this set up would work though?

Yes it would. And check out the Behringer patch bays. they are dirt cheap and can be configured to run normalized, un-normaled, parallell, and one other form. I have four of them and love them.

Well, if the reverb accepts and sounds better with stereo, then it looks like you are one output short on the delta to the reverb unit. But other than that your plan looks ok to me (obviously not an expert here).

okey, so I tried running it like that today and it didn't seem to work, ran vox out of sonar on Delta 3/4, and the delta out 3 was running into the mono in of the reverb, and the out of the reverb was running into the phonics mixer. Weird thing was, although the vox were being sent out to delta 3/4 in the software, I still heard them coming out of the speakers which are connected to the yamaha which is on delta out 1 and 2...

do you still have Delta Outs 1/2 set up as "Monitor Mixer"? that would cause that. Monitor Mixer listens to all 8 channels at once
