Effects Rack w/ 8 track

Hey everyone

I'm interested in purchasing a multi effects unit of some sort--more specifically a compressor. I'm looking at the Behringer Composer Pro and it seems many use that here. My setup is as follows:

Acoustic guitar/vocals being miked by 2 Oktavas into my Behringer MXB1002 mixer into my Boss BR-8.

I'm completely clueless as to where a rack setup falls in that chain and how it is hooked up. Am I even able to hook up a rack to my setup? I'm still trying to learn how all it all works.

Thanks

Adam

If you are using the mono channels of the 1002 they both have inserts which will allow you to patch the composer pro in at that point. That is the best scenarion for using a compressor. If you cannot use it there and need to apply it to one of the stereo inputs, then patch into the aux send and returns.

Ok sorry to bring this thread up again. I receieved my Behringer Composer Pro MDX2200 and I just can't seem to get it going. I'm not too familiar with how things chain together. I am not sure what you mean by aux send and returns...which input is that on my mixer? FX Send? Mon Send?

1. Where do I plug my mics into - the Composer Pro or my MXB1002 mixer? I would like to go: Mic > MXB1002 mixer > Composer Pro > Boss BR-8

If that is the case, how do I send the signal from the mixer to the composer pro? I've tried all setups and I can't hear any difference in the sound. Sorry to be a pain...I just don't understand how they link up.

plug the aux send on your mixer to the input in the composer, the out of the composer to the aux return on your mixer, then plug the mic into the mixer and use the aux knob in that channel to send it's signal to the composer.

Thanks for the reply dB.

I went at it again but could you clarify what you mean by aux send and returns in reference to my mixer? Here is a good picture of the unit:

I tried the FX Send and Mon Send and the Composer is definitely picking up my signal but I can't hear a single difference in the sound. To get the signal to the BR-8 I'm using the tape out.

argh, you don't have a real loop on that, a way around it would be to send it out the fx send to the input of the composer and the out of the composer in through another channel input of the mixer...

Ok that being the case, what behringer mixer would you recommend that has the ability to support the composer pro? I just need something basic, nothing too expensive or technical. I might as well upgrade...

Edit: I am looking at UB1204FX-PRO. Is there something cheaper but will still do the job? that's gonna set me back 150 bucks.
