I thought you guys would get a kick out of seeing where your answers ended up... :) The music has yet to be written, although I can hear it pretty clearly in my mind.
------------------
"The World's Best Song"
This song is about 4 minutes long
nothing controversial
it's universal
The lyric's rhyme is rhythmically strong
It's been computed
Then executed
This song is sure to be a hit
We'll climb the charts
Then we'll be rolling in it
There's even a lyric about love - that would be this one, actually
Do you love me baby?
I love you baby baby baby
C:
The booking agent knows this song's the bomb
And the record company knows they can't go wrong
The distributor knows the retail sales'll be strong
And we'll pay the radio station to play along
It's the world's best song
This is the part of the song
where we have to play
that same old verse again
Keep it simple, keep it short and sweet
and no avant guarde innovation
Don't stand out with hopes of being original
New ideas are scary, so blend in with the herd
And when you hear me singing breathlessly for you
It shows I really mean the words
C:
The booking agent knows this song's the bomb
And the record company knows they can't go wrong
The distributor knows the retail sales'll be strong
And we'll pay the radio station to play along
It's the world's best song
("insert solo here")
Now you know the song is almost done
as we repeat the verse again
Are you even hearing lyrics at this point?
Or just waiting for the chorus, so the song will end?
C:
The booking agent knows this song's the bomb
And the record company knows they can't go wrong
The distributor knows the retail sales'll be strong
And we'll pay the radio station to play along
It's the world's best song
...and it sounds like every other song

Dec 22, 2003 02:09 pm Cool tincan, this would've been a great one for that "contest" thing being discussed awhile ago see what people come up with for the music.

Dec 22, 2003 07:20 pm Tincan, I cant stop rolling and laughing. should have known that thread would turn out something like this. That is almost as unethical as a Bare Naked Ladies tune, and they have had some very silly tunes.
By the way, that is a compliment.

Dec 22, 2003 08:32 pm That's great. I can't wait to hear the finished product. Unfortunately, most radio songs aren't reliant on hand drums...

I know, I know... I painted myself into a corner, didn't I? I guess I'll have to drag out the Alesis SR16 from its hiding place and give it a workout (translation - figure out how the hell to do anything with it)

Hold your horses there, bud... :) hahaha I'm the slowest frickin' songwriter on this site. It'll be a while yet. I actually haven't done anything in the studio for about a week because I've become re-addicted to an old game I have, Dungeon Keeper 2. Rest assured, as soon as the last portal gem is in my scaly claw, and my evil minions run rampant throughout the land, my computer time will once again be focused on something semi-productive. hahahaha
hey, thanks for the kudos on the lyrics. I'm a little mystified by the "unethical" comment, but hey, whateveh mon... :)

Dec 23, 2003 10:41 am just remember the band that plays The Wolds Best Song has to have a black guy a bald guy and a chick in order to be the worlds best band...

Dec 23, 2003 07:59 pm Using the term unethical in conjunction with the referance to BNL means it was meant to be that way. They write some very interesting tunes that are by all referances not the run of the mill radio friendly tunes, yet they get airplay with them. Granted, they are not the household name they once were, and maybe not even in other parts of the country. But here in the great white north, they have never had a show that didnt sell out in a half a day. In fact, two years ago they did a three night stand that sold out all three shows in one day.
Anyway, they write with total irreverance to the normal radio friendly formula but get played. that is what I meant. It was a compliment as I said.

Dec 24, 2003 07:09 am Thanks, Noize... I didn't doubt that it was a compliment, I just had no idea what you meant. :) Thanks.

Dec 25, 2003 08:49 pm Ya, I spew uninterpretably some times. I am not good with getting my point accross some times. I need more practice.
Jan 05, 2004 09:42 pm LMAO. I didn't see this before for some reason. This is hilarious. (and true which makes it even funier in a sad way lol)
