*OLD* Version of Cakewalk...

Hey, guys. I've been out of the game for a while, and I'm looking to get back in. However, after browsing this site and others, I see that I am WAY behind the times!

Anyways, I have Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.01. I loaded it onto my P4 system, and I have the same latency problems I did when I had a Pentium 200. Is this just a limitation of the old program?

(Also, I downloaded a few VST plug-ins, and a VST-DX wrapper. Well, the VST delay that I used has like a second of latency, rendering it useless.)

I probably need a new program, huh? I can just see the dollars flying out of my wallet now.....

First off, while I appreciate you not typing the words out... this is still a family friendly site, so I am gonna ask you not to post those two letters in that sense again and I am going to edit your post. THanks

Well, first, thanks Loki for editing that post...and yes, I suggest you upgrade the app, Cakewak ghas made huge strides in latency and performance in the latest version of their software (Sonar XL) that may remedy your problem, latency is not only caused by hardware, but by software as well.

I would say if you allready are using CakeWalk, you can jump up to their new Sonar 2.0. And I would suggest popping for the XL version, as it include's everything but the kitchen sink. You will find it very impressive compared to 6.01.
