Made my first actual DVD

I have done a lot of playing with video, audio and the like for years, but over the holiday weekend, for the first time I actually captured a VHS video, edited it adding bumpers on either end, cleaning up the audio and all that normal stuff...then got it burned to a standard format DVD with the intro menu in place and everything...

May not be a big deal, but I like any "first" :-)

You'll appreciate the effort for a long time, no doubt. Good for you. I'm still happy that I actually got my old 4-track stuff burned to cd before the ravages of time and electromagnetism wiped out my work.

Yea, I'm interested. What software did you use? Have any tips, traps?

Did the capture and editing with Pinnacle Studio 7, cleaned audio with Steinberg and did the DVD image with neoDVD and burned with NeroExpress, the nurning app that came with the CD burner I bought a couple days ago...tho obviously I didn't burn it WITH that CD burner ;-)

One thing I found is that codecs used to encode are even more of a hassle with DVD than with audio or streaming media...gotta encode MPEG2 for DVD, and be patient, DVD seems to take a long time to "close" the burn...patience is key...otherwise it was pretty straightforward.

Glad ya got it running. I gotta start getting some of my video stuff turned digital.

On an unrelated note, I finally found drivers for my Syquest SparQ drive that will run in winXP. I know it may not seem a big deal to some but dB can tell you I have about 30 gig of music and samples on those silly 1 gig cartridges. And I just couldnt bear to install win95 on a machine just to export the samples and such. Now I can just burn it all right to CD and load it on a HD and be done with it.

Anyone interested in a used 1 gig removable media writer/reader. I have both IDE and Parralell units?

Dang tooten. They put the Syquest site back up and it links to a third party who built drivers and services those things. Since manyof the Syquest drives are still in major use around the country I suppose someone thought it best to keep it alive just in case.

Needless to say I havent installed it yet, but I am guessing they must work or they wouldnt be there. Keep your fingers crossed for me. It should be an adventure checking out what I have on those drives since its been about 5 years or better since I could get at em.
