Do I Need A Mixer?

I've been recording audio on my Sonar set up but now its time to add my midi keyboard and do some work with midi along side the audio. I have a dedicated stereo pre amp equaliser with which i can record my good quality audio which has elimated the need for a mixer up to now. I now have 2 audio outs from my keyboard and 2 audio outs from my 2496 soundcard and only 2 inputs on my monitor amp.....4 into 2 doesn't go! Is there any point in buying an expensive mixer when i have dedicated pre amps? Will i need an external mixer to master to a stereo pair or is the whole mixing process kept within the digital realm of Sonar, so could i get away with a basic Behringer for feeding the monitor amp? Sorry so long winded.

You can, and probably should, do all your mixing and mastering within the digital realm. So you don't need an external mixer for that at all.

I'm a bit confused here, though. You should just keep the monitor amp hooked to your soundcard's outputs at all times. So can't you just plug your keyboard into the preamp? I don't see where the conflict is.

Can't you just route all the signals to the soundcard's 2 outputs within the computer?
